Following what goes on with oil and gas exploitation in and around Adrian, Michigan since 2013 - and how these events in our little city connect to the global environmental situation... - with the occasional sidetrack to other related environmental issues in Lenawee county, Michigan and how those relate to global issues.
That's how it may look like. But it is short term profit leaving long term problems - not only for the environment - and it is only profitable because most federal energy subsidies go into oil and gas - otherwise it would be even too expensive to do it. In addition, regulations are a joke. Permits should be much higher to give the DEQs enough money to independently monitor oil wells instead of trusting the industry to monitor itself.
There are no federal subsidies for oil &/or gas exploration, drilling, completion or production, i.e., the federal government does not send any tax dollars to any such company. These companies are only allowed normal business deductions on their tax returns--similar in type & amount as every other industry. It is the renewable energy industries that receive money (subsidies) from the federal government, for example, the now bankrupt Solyndra, Inc. which the federal government gave a half-billion dollars of our tax money.
I do not know where you get your information from but you are very wrong. The oil and gas industry uses up most of all federal subsidies in any business sector. Even more than the almighty corn, beef, and seed companies like Monsanto. You can educate yourself reading my essay "We need oil, don't we", which cites reliable and verifiable information instead of your undocumented statement.
I never gave it a thought that the center on Tipton is smack dab in the middle of the Ruesink oil conglomerate. How ironic and sad.
