The Himalayan glaciers, which stretch east from northern Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, through Nepal and Bhutan, and into the neighboring Tibetan Plateau and China, are the source of fresh water for nearly four billion people in Asia

CLIMATE 101 and CLIMATE CHANGE EXPLAINED IN 10 CARTOONS

Good new source provides the facts pretty well:

CLIMATE 101: The science is settled. Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that man-made climate change is a reality. We know it’s happening, and we know why: carbon pollution is warming our planet and creating dirty weather like extreme droughts, flooding, wildfires, and superstorms. And we’re all paying the price for it in lives, livelihoods, food and water scarcity, and in every way imaginable.
What can we do? Reduce carbon pollution. Right now, scientists tell us that we’re on track to see global temperatures rise up to 4°C by the end of the century, with a shift to a clean-energy economy, we can still create the sustainable and prosperous future we all want. But we have to act now.

CLIMATE CHANGE EXPLAINED IN 10 CARTOONS: If you’ve ever attempted to skim the latest 30-page scientific study from Nature Climate Change, or tried to go shot-for-shot with a climate change denier on Twitter, you’ve probably asked this question with at least some frustration in your voice. The fact of the matter is, showing a visualization can be very useful in understanding a subject – or even convincing someone of your point of view.
With that in mind, we gathered some of the best cartoons to explain the climate crisis – and how we can solve it. https://www.climaterealityproject.org/blog/climate-change-explained-10-cartoons

Sign and send the petition to your Senators: Do NOT confirm any climatedeniers

Climate pollution is causing catastrophic damage to the United States and all over the world  At this late hour, the American people and the world community can no longer tolerate government officials who deny this existential threat. Climate denial is immoral, unethical and constitutes crime against humanity.

For this reason, as you vet the new administration’s appointments, we exhort you to ask the following simple questions of every nominee:
Do you accept the scientific consensus that the climate is changing because of greenhouse gas pollution, predominantly the burning of fossil fuels?

Do you accept the scientific consensus that ocean acidification, sea levels, and extreme weather—including heat waves, droughts, and deluges—are on the rise because of greenhouse gas pollution?

Do you accept the findings of the Pentagon, the CIA and the Department of Defense that climate change threatens U.S. national security?
Any nominee who answers “no” to either of these questions should be rejected out of hand as they belong to the same kind of people who insisted that the world is flat or that the sun revolves around earth.

Climate Change Denial Kills!

From the Siwrra Club:

This is what we're up against. The minute Trump took office, he scrubbed every mention of Climate Change from whitehouse.gov.

Donate monthly

His new energy "plan" will make your blood boil:

President Trump is committed to eliminating harmful and unnecessary policies such as the Climate Action Plan...

We must take advantage of the estimated $50 trillion in untapped shale, oil, and natural gas reserves, especially those on federal lands...

The Trump Administration is also committed to clean coal technology.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Women's March in Adrian, Washington DC and Many Other Places

It was good to be part of the Sister March of The Women's March in Washington DC - right here in Adrian. I think we were about 130 women, men and children, and many people driving by supported our peaceful protest.

It was also reassuring to see that almost a million people joined The Women's March in Washington DC (Ann Arbor reported about 11,000 people). This unprecedented crowding shows clearly that are many people, who are not happy but concerned about the nominations and the tone of Mr. Trump. It is a clear message that we are vigilant and will not allow this country to go backwards and slip into fascism.

Scientists are frantically copying U.S. climate data, fearing it might vanish under Trump

Alarmed that decades of crucial climate measurements could vanish under a hostile Trump administration, scientists have begun a feverish attempt to copy reams of government data onto independent servers in hopes of safeguarding it from any political interference.

If this is continuing you know that we are steering towards a totalitarian and fascist country...In that case resistance becomes an obligation for every citizen!

Denying Human-Made Climate Change is a Crime Against Humanity!!! Overlooked possibility of a collapsed Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation in warming climate

advances.sciencemag.org
Changes in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) are moderate in most climate model projections under increasing greenhouse gas forcing. This intermodel consensus may be an artifact of common model biases that favor a stable AMOC. Observationally based freshwater budget analyses suggest that the AMOC is in an unstable regime susceptible for large changes in response to perturbations. By correcting the model biases, we show that the AMOC collapses 300 years after the atmospheric CO2 concentration is abruptly doubled from the 1990 level. Compared to an uncorrected model, the AMOC collapse brings about large, markedly different climate responses: a prominent cooling over the northern North Atlantic and neighboring areas, sea ice increases over the Greenland-Iceland-Norwegian seas and to the south of Greenland, and a significant southward rain-belt migration over the tropical Atlantic. Our results highlight the need to develop dynamical metrics to constrain models an

There is some common sense still out there in the world - we in the US just have to keep on pushing hard to finally change politics and put an end on lobbyism! Polls show that most people in Germany agree with the government discouraging wrong choices. In contrast to this, remember what happened when New York wanted to ban large sweetened beverages? It will take a lot of education to change the ignorance of many people, which is of course supported by a failing education system too much influenced by powerful lobbies.
